In 2024, Danielle met with members of the Canadian Parliament at the House of Commons, where she briefed Members of the Parliament (MPs) during the Global Cooperation Caucus on the crucial role that plays girls and women on the SDGs and sustainable development, especially in the context of conflicts, gender based violence, and climate change. This was a unique opportunity to bring forward youth perspectives and (re)-think Canada’s leadership on the global stage for gender equality.
In March 2025 after a very selective process, Danielle and 6 other brilliant advocates for gender equality and the SDGs were selected across Canada to represent the official Canadian delegation at the 69th CSW (Commission on the Status of Women). During the high-level interactive dialogue Beijing@30: A dialogue with youth representatives during 11th plenary meeting of CSW69, Danielle spoke on behalf of Canada, and reflected on the progress made since the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform on gender equality, women, and girls’ empowerment. At a time when member states are encouraged to give a platform to youth voices, and implement concrete, action-oriented and transformative outcomes that leave no one behind, Canada’s move to cede their time for the first time during that panel to a youth representative – Danielle–demonstrates a commitment for youth inclusion and is the way to go moving forward. She represented Canadian youth voices during the panel and shared innovative solutions to protect the gains made so far and create new pathways for young people to engage in gender equality, access to education, and economic empowerment. She has also joined the 16 days of activism campaign in 2024, fostering women peacebuilders work in Democratic republic of the Congo and South Sudan on ending Gender Based Violence. This campaign mobilised and reached + 200 people across both countries.
Since 2023, Danielle has also been an advocate for the Pad-A-Girl campaign and Hygiene Advocacy established across Zambia. This initiative led by the Zambian youth, aims to break the stigma surrounding menstruation while addressing the challenges that prevent girls from accessing proper sanitary products and safe hygienic facilities. The campaign, which is targeting +2000 young girls across the country, is breaking taboos and stigmas around periods, and is keeping thousands of girls in school and rebuilding their self confidence.
